Canada Idle problem when getting to the first light!!!

Hi,

I'm new here; but being reading you guys for a while, and enjoying your comments!!!

I'm having this problems with my 05 Matrix, when I'm getting to my first light( who is about 750 feets from where I live) and having the engine still in cold/warnup mode ; up to the point that the idle is supposed to be droping in the beginning of the warn zone. The engine is like chocking litely!! this goes on for about a minute or so; after it reaches it's comfort zone, it run like a cat.....bbbbbbbbrrrrrrr....and this is only happenning when the car as being stopped for 7 to 8 hours or so!!!!
it's being plugged in a computer reading device and the results are it's as been missing some gas.....but when and how it doesn't say!!!!...like searching for a needle in a stack of hay!!!!!
Does anyone as a clue of what is going on???, because beside that it's running like number#1
Last point I'm living in Quebec city, and this only occurs when the temp is going down to -10c or so!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance!!!!
And by the way my engine light up into a yellow color when it first occurs, and since then it goes on and off when ever it feel like!!!

What do you mean it is missing some gas? Is the tach needle bouncing?

Canada

Nope no bouncing there, it's like if there was some water in the gas!!! So the engine is like chocking a little bit ( it last usually up to a minute or so).......just the time that the idle get's itself in the warn zone!!! it's been going on since the beginning of winter!!

For the missing some gas...meaning that's what the computer read when it's been plugged in for a lecture..like if the fuel injector didn't give enough fuel???????in some occasion..meaning when the episodes occurs!!!

Hi,

I have the same problem with my 2007 Matrix. Have you solved your problem?

Are you talking about the yellow light on your dash? That's a CEL.

Part of the issue is that with temperatures as cold as you mentioned - it will take a while for the Matrix to get to normal operating temperature, so which is why the idle seems erratic.

Also with very cold temperatures the intake manifold gasket is known to cause a small leak, you can replace the gasket for about $6-$12 from the dealer (the new gaskets are orange in color I think) and will resolve that issue if that is indeed the cause for your erratic idle.

There is a TSB about this issue - Technical Service Bulletin - http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/sk...rolla_0171.pdf
