shame to ask

i have as 03 matrix XR AWD with 100K miles other than changing the oil -air filter - the break pads and the tires i have not done anything else. But the car runs well. I am thinking in putting some money into it - letsd start with a good check out maintance but the dealership is asking for a look for $300. What is the stuff that I should be looking to change and replace at that milage. also I need some cosmetic work done in the front bumper as one of the clips broke - where can I find one.

Any help is well appreciated.

Hit the link below and use the drop down menus to see what is needed. Did you buy the car new? If not, do you know what sort of previous maintenance has been done?

You should have followed the maintenance schedule found in your owners manual. Not sure if you have a timing belt or a timing chain, but a belt needs to be changed out every 90K miles, brake fluid flushed out every 2 years regardless of mileage and tranny & rear diff fluid every 30K miles or so.

I would change the belt, just take a look at it. If you see cracks it's time for a change, but at 100K I would change it out anyway. I really don't think you have a distributor cap, most likely just coil packs.

I was looking at the belt today and it did look fine no cracks or anything unusual but i will change it anyway better be safe than sorry. I still have no Idea where the timing belt is I have try looking for it everywhere but it doesn't even show in the owners manual. I am going to buy a Hanes manual book to see if the mention where it is.
So far this is my to do list:

Replace serpentine belt
Replace engine oil and oil filter
replace Transfer case oil
Replace air filter
Replace engine coolant
Rotate tires
replace air conditioner Filter
Replace differential oil
replace automatic transmission fluid
Replace timing belt
replace brake fluid
Replace Power steering fluid
Balance and align tires

Inspect:
Ball joints and dust covers
Brake lines and hoses
Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs
drive shaft boots
exhaust pipes and mountings
steering gear box
steering linkage and boots
Inspect nut and bolts on chassis and body
Inspect fuel lines and connections , fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
Fuel tank cap gasket
Radiator core and condenser
fuel filter

I guess I am going to have to do a lot of the work as i don't have enough cash to do all of these

The timing chain/belt is hidden by a cover, not an easy task to do if you've never done one before. The list is a good start though.

The Matrix as a timing chain in it's 1.8lt engine...so no need to replace nothing!!! Just a ajustement is going to be needed, when one day you're going to ear it clack in the casing!!!!So on that side of view you can sleep on it!!!!

I would add spark plug and thermostat replacement to your list.

Find a good independent mechanic to do the work.
No need to go to the dealer for service after the warranty ends.

You can look for a local mechanic with a good reputation here:
