Question Is there way to increase power on lower rpm?

Is there way to increase power on lower rpm (3000 to 4000rpm)? My goal is to feel a little pick up when I step on the accelaration.

New to the forum, have had my matrix for 1 1/2 years and put 45k on it. I have been looking for cheap low end power ever since. Put on a Injen CAI (knew that wouldn't help), so I tried Bosch P4 spark plugs, felt a difference, but not much. Check out the thread on the energy suspension motor mounts. It is supposed to give you better take off. I ordered mine last night, when I get them on I'll post how they work. I drive more than 100 miles a day so I'll get a good test fairly quickly.

So here is the story I have been thinking about the es-motor mounts for a while, Well I bought them from ptuning.com for 40CAN with shipping and only 5.55CAN for duties because UPS messed up. So I have read all the threads on installation and decided that I am going to leave it to a mechanic as I want to make sure that I wouldn't mess it up (I have been know to break things a few times until I get it right). So I called my GM dealer this morning and chatted with the service guy that I usually deal with and he had time to sneak it in so on bit of a compulsive urge, I dropped off my 2003 Vibe GT thinking that I would only have to pay for 1 hours work....that I could accept considering these guys were pros. I even printed off the how to posts and gave it to them to make sure they were doing as quick a job as possible. So two hours later and two hours work later (200CAN) I got my car back and WOW what a HUUGGGEEE difference. I mean huge. There is no more lerching/wheel hopping forward. Now as for the noise, I did notice some but it is not really louder engine noise, it is more like hearing and feeling your vibe or matrix purrr more :P. There have been a few comments about an increased engine rattle/shutter between 900rpm-1100rpm and I noticed that too. But, I think that is really due to the crap clutch setup in the car. Maybe others that have upgraded there clutches and have the es-motor mounts also can comment if that rattle/shutter still persists with a new clutch setup.
I am really pissed abou two things.
1. that I didn't do this sooner...it is so worth the purchase
2. the cost of installation as they ended up taking off the shield to do the rear mount which doubled the labor charges. But after having it done I am not so pissed as the drivability is 100% better....afterall, it is for glory of a better ride.

Any questions or comment for anyone needing more info PM me anytime.

what did they have to take off or get around to get the mounts on? I'm planning on getting those next since they'er inexpensive and it's a good mod for the engine, stability wise.

Xuser and Xrworkcar check out ATRmotorsport(s).com. The building the final stages for the 1zz and 2zz tubro kits for $2499.99.

Motor mounts have zero to do with horsepower. There is only the torque effect on the motor that is lessened. The engine will compress the stock mount more on a quick takeoff and the rubber will kick the engine back after being compressed. That is felt as a slight lurch. The takeoff will feel a little smoother as the lurch is lessened but, unless the lurch causes wheel spin, 0-60 times are unaffected. The stiffer mounts will deliver more vibration to the rest of the car at all speeds which is a bad thing.

Agreed. From an engineering standpoint, your motor mounts have absolutly no means of adding or subtracting energy from the overall motion of the car aside from stability. However, as you all have mentioned, different motor mounts can have different effects on the ride. You might feel like you have a faster takeoff, and you might, but the energy gained from the compression/expansion of the motor mounts during the takeoff and converted to the kinetic energy of the car will be converted back shortly after takeoff, so you'll have a lag time, and no overall performance increase. I feel like the ride in my stock XR 5-speed is pretty good, so I don't see any reason to change out the motor mounts, certainly not for a performance increase.
