cargo cover for Matrix 2006?

Hello everyone,

Please forgive me if this was already brought up...because I can't imagine it hasn't...but I didn't find it while searching the contents of this forum!!

I just got a 2006 Matrix. All is well, but I want to put a subwoofer in the back. Big deal, right?

Well, I can't believe I can't find any sort of cargo cover for the back!!!

I live in SF -- I NEED my privacy while parked on the street! I can't have everyone looking in and seeing my stuff in the back -- especially a big bass box! (once "they" see the bass box, they know you have an amp...and prbly a decent car stereo too. SMASH goes the window!!)

I inquired at my local Toyota dealer -- they said they'd call me back.
I looked all over eBay. Can't find anything!!

Anyone out there find themselves in the same situation? I mean, with a hatchback that is made to cart stuff around -- you think a cargo cover would be a stock item! Guess not...

Thanks,
digitizer

Those can be hard to find in stock - most end up making a cargo cover them selves from various materials. I've seen them sold when the first Matrix were sold in 2003, but since those accessories were such poor sellers - dealerships didn't keep stock. If you are lucky, a dealership might have one or could order one from a warehouse.

Bodyshops are also other places to find interior/exterior bits - they might be able to find one for you fairly inexpensively.

installation??

white_trix-e, thanks for your help and the link to the Pontiac cargo cover. Looking at that cover, and looking at the $75 shipping charge? I decided to get overcharged by my friendly neighborhood Toyota dealer instead.

WOW, $350 later (need two lame parts ALONG with the actual cover, $85 each), I am the proud (?) owner of a cargo cover.

However, I have no idea how to install it. Has anyone done it before? It makes NO SENSE to me!!!

I'm not as helpless as I sound, I promise. But this whole cargo cover experience has been pretty frustrating.

Thanks for everyone's help on this forum!!

white_trix-e...you are so so SO correct.

I'm starting to think the nice guys down at San Francisco Toyota are nice...but lacking in grey matter.

They sold me 2 "tire tie down straps" for some inane reason, thinking they were part of the cargo cover!!!

I'm sitting here for 20 minutes, twisting my brain around, trying to figure out how these straps are supposed to be part of the assembly. At first I thought I must be a completely brainless moron. Finally realized...NOOOO...just 2 unnecessary straps!!!!

Grrrrr!!!!
