compression test all over the place

I posted on a different thread about cylinder misfires on my 05 Matrix.I just did a compression test and had widely varying pressures(#1 cyl-135psi,#2 cyl-60psi,#3cyl-175 psi,#4cyl-120 psi) All spark plugs are burning clean.Any Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Rick

Should do a compression check after the engine is warmed up to get meaningful compression numbers. You can still do it cold, but the numbers might jump around a bit, useful for gross measurements.

My suggestion is to retest (warm or cold) - note the max pressure for each cylinder. Add a squirt of motor oil into each cylinder - retest and see how the number changes. Ideally, you want the numbers to be even across the cylinders - absolute pressure is not important, especially if testing on a cold engine.

When up to operating temp (I let mine cool down a bit, don't like to remove sparkplugs from a hot, aluminum head) - should be looking for pressure between 145PSI - 218PSI with no more than a 15PSI deviation between cylinders.
