Hard to say for sure. Don't let the press and media get you spun up. It has never been exhaustively shown that DBW and SUA (sudden unintended acceleration) are linked at the electronic level. Maybe just an extraordinary coincidence that certain EMF exposure and SUA events happened to coincide together. Its not just Toyota - Ford, Audi, and other makes have also seen an inordinate amount of SUA as of late - just that Toyota's name grabs more headlines.
Don't get me wrong - this generation of Matrix/Vibe had their share of headaches with DBW - non of which were SUA events, but more along the lines of throttle response lag - you step on the accelerator and there is a finite delay time before the PCM reacts. Those were fixed with an ECM flash and TPS recalibration. I've yet to hear anyone of the later 9th gen Corolla / later 1st gen Matrix/Vibe that experienced any SUA events.
If the 2006 Vibe is a good deal - I'd still consider it for decent transportation - SUA on this particular model years is a non-issue. But it is your call in the end.
