Idle noise, burn smell and a small leak!!
Hey everybody,
I am new here although I have been a reader for a while..I recently purchased a 2003 XR automatic Matrix with ~95000 miles on it. I checked the car at two shops and both thought it was a clean car. The car drives great but there are a couple of things that are bothering me..
1) There is a minor leak close to the radiator. Three different mechanics told me different things...(oil leak, radiator leak, crank leak) which is really puzzling me
2) There is an intermittent burning smell, it comes out after driving for a while, continues for about 30s to 1min and then goes away.
3) Also after driving for a while (more than 30min), there is an idling noise like a purring cat whenever i stop at a stoplight.
When I took it to the dealer for an inspection, he told me the crankseal and serpentine belt need to be changed. Did anybody have these problems before? I appreciate your help.
