pricing for a 04 Matrix in Canada

My family is intersted in purchasing a 04 Matrix XR 4WD, I would like to know what would be a good price for the car? (in Canada).. maybe you guys can also list the year, model and price you paid for you car.. that would be greatly appreciated as well. and how much surchages (fuel, license..etc.) I would have to pay in addition to the 15% tax in Ontario.

Have you tried "Price Your Toyota" at toyota.ca? It's basically an online quote. Use the price you get there and compare it w/ the dealers quote. When you "Price Your Toyota", don't opt for anything. Just punch in the standard stuff, no options. What you'll end up w/ is a no frills price for your car. Run to a few dealers and see if they're able to beat it (of course, don't show them the Price your Toyota quote).
I did this w/ at least 6 different dealers around the GTA. Only one was able to quote under it and that's who I purchased from.
Toyota barely budges from the MSRP. I got $600 off my 03 XRS 6 speed.

what... only $600 off the MSRP price.. I looked at the invoice price that is in the edmunds.com website.. there is about $2000 differences between the invoice price and MSRP price.. guess there isn't too much room to negotiate.. do you know when is the 05 Matrix going to come out? the salesperson said it will be around October or November.. is that right? when did the 04 one came out then?

edmunds.com don't apply to Canada. It's free to acquire invoice price in the US whereas we have to pay to get that info.
It's also pointless comparing US and Canadian MSRP's. You won't get equivalent conversions and US MSRP's tend to be way higher than Canadian MSRP's. Their markup is insane.

According to a guy who works at the Cambridge plant, the 05's are going into production sometime in the spring. Not exactly sure when but the 05's could hit the dealers as early as late spring early summer.
