'03 Matrix poor gas mileage
I just bought a 2003 4WD Matrix and have consistently been getting 28-30mpg. suddenly my gas mileage has dropped down to around 18-21mpg and the car is feeling more sluggish. My local dealer said that there was nothing he could do as the check engine light did not come on (it still works..... it illuminates upon starting the vehicle) .
After much complaining on my part I finally convinced him to look into the problem, and he found that my O2 sensor was shot.
The O2 sensor has now been replaced and I am noticing an increase in gas mileage, but still not to the level that it was prior to these problems starting. Is there anything else I should have him check? Could running with a shot O2 sensor have caused a problem elsewhere??
