I have a 2006 matrix that I bought used. It came with 2 sets of keys but only 1 had the anti theft button on a key fob. So basically the second set is useless for starting and the button failed on me today. Its a small circular fob with a central button and a small red light that goes on when its pressed. I have to press this button and turn the key simultaneously to start the car. Batteries are good in the fob.
Now my question is, is this anti theft module stock from toyota? I dont see any logos or stickers to identify a company. I dont know if I should disable (if possible) or try and buy a new anti theft fob.
If anyone can offer any insight on this issue I would appreciate it very much.
edit: I think its more of an immobilizer now than an anti theft.
