Question 05 XRS automatic headlight issue

i have an 05 xrs that i absolutely love except when it gives me issues....like my headlights will come on during the middle of the day lately. bright cloudless day and they come on?!?! if i restart it, they turn off for a while but will come back on shortly. can someone please tell me why!?!?!?!

knowing me its something stupid-easy to solve like the sensor is dirty adn just needs to be wiped off but i have no idea where it is??? any help.

or is there another reason anyone can think of???

thanks yall

Are you talking about the Twilight Sentinel feature (turns on lights, kicks on dash lights) or DRL (daytime running lamps)? They are two separate features.

The DRLs (headlamps automatically come on when you put the car in gear/remove parking brake), not much you can in that case other than to do a DRL disable.

If it is an issue with the Twilight Sentinel, could be an issue with the integration relay or the electronic eye is shorted out/malfunctioning.

my DRL work fine, no issues with those. come on when the car is on just fine.

just replaced both drl/headlamp bulbs last week but issue has been intermittent for a few months now.

the Twilight Sentinel must be my problem. where is the sensor/electronic eye located?? i have the automatic day/night rearview and thats the only light/dark sensor i know of; is the twilight sensor different +/or located elsewhere on the vehicle? and what is an 'integration relay'????

thanks again

It's a plastic wart on the top of the dashboard at the far left near the windshield. Make sure nothing's on top of it.
