I want to take the emblem off the back that spells out TOYOTA on the upper left part of the hatch near the window. If I take that off, will there be holes there or is it just held in place with double sided sticky tape, so to speak? Does anyone know? I know it is a toyota, I don't need a badge saying that. Help a newbie out, I did a search and came up with nothing.
ive never seen the inside of the matrix but if you can peel back the inner lining a bit you might be able to tell. If not then you can always try it and if that doesnt work you can put a trd badge or the badge back on. My guess is that it has pegs because all the toyotas i know of have them. My car does, the rolla does, so on. But its worth a try i guess. Im goin to take mine off and put a trd badge in place of it over the holes.

Best take a hair dryer and heat up the emblem for a few minutes then use floss to "saw" the emblem off.
There are no holes, already removed mine  Heat is cool but I had good luck just using dental floss to "saw" it off. All you have to do is pull both ends towards you to prevent rubbing the paint, peel off the remaining foam tare and if any sticky stuff left I use 3M addhesive remover.
Nothing on the keying issue except they have not bothered me since I posted a $500 reward, cops even said it was cool to do so. All I said on the reward was I wanted to have a chat with them so I could make sure it did not happen again, I guess they saw my little "don't #^(& with me" hint there
Last weekend I drove to San Francisco with my kids, great travel and family car! 35MPG average, very confortable except the front seats which I will replace fairly soon, the only complaint I have at all.
With my new tires it is a bit slower as expected with 19's but handles incredibly well and has great brakes. This car has one of the best stock suspensions I have ever had the pleasure to test, been driving far more years than most on this board have been alive so have a fairly good understanding of the subject. (PS, I autocrossed and rallied a 510 back in the 70's) I may get a second set of wheels for the Matrix, some light 17's or so, these big wheels look really cool but sure area not as fun as light wheels.
Finally decided to get around to debadging the "toyota" emblem, it looks much better. I used the floss method and it took about 2 minutes, and the sticky part peeled right off, I then hit it with a little wax.
The emblems have a silicone based adhesive grey foam. You can practically just pull them off. If you do it slowly, the foam comes with it. These cars are new. Emblems have not been on long enough to stick hard.

i know there are no holes on the 'word' toyota, matrix, or dealer sticker. But i heard there are holes for attachment on the actual toyota emblem. P.S. Do you know where i can buy blacked out toyota emblems?
