Maintenance Required light not working...

Can anyone tell me why this light would go out permanently? It would always come on when it was time for an oil change, but it hasn't been on for about 7-8 months. I did take my car into a garage a while back (not a Toyota dealership) to have some brakes put on, and when they were done with it, my ABS light was on constantly as well as my tire pressure light. Before I left the garage, I went back in and told them about the lights being on and the guy said, "Oh yeah. I did notice that when I did the brakes." I don't know how they expected me to drive off without asking about it. At any rate, I had them take care of it since they were the last to work on it. They had to get a sensor from Toyota, and now I am wondering if they did something else so that Required Maintenance light light doesn't come on.

Any ideas?

"Oh yeah. I did notice that when I did the brakes." That comment right there says it all. Are you sure he replaced a sensor at all.

I can't see any reasond why one would effect the other. The ABS sensor is an unplug one and plug in another, so I can't phathom what they could have done to effect your maintenance light. All I can say is, get it check out.

The mystery continues....

After all this time of not having the required maintenance light come on a couple months ago I noticed that when I started the car, the light was blinking, and then eventually go off. This is what is was doing before right around the time an oil change was due. After a bit more driving, the light is now on all the time.

Being it wasn't working before why would it work all of a sudden? Unless the light is on to inform me of something else? Any ideas?
