I like the shape of the car alot, had to get used to it in some ways though. I love the utility and performance combination, even rides good with big wheels. The handling is quite suprising, a recent test had the SRX, same suspension as mine, doing over 66 in the slolum, beat the WRX wagaon by over 2 MPH!

Thanks Phi, this car gets attention everywhere it goes, can't wait to get it lowered, some subdued graphics and body trim installed. Big brakes are taking shape, I just bought the rear hubs yesterday so I can start getting ready for nice size disks and get rid of the drums.

I am now thinking I should have held off for hte SRX and swaped the pistons so I could boost it. It would have been easier and cheaper than adding rear disks and what ever else I find I need to do. Oh well, will just make it into what I want.

I posted my photos with wheels didn't I ?
Progress is very slow, lets, see, limo tinted the windows except the front side ones, two shades past legal, see how long I get away with that! Bought a TRD exhaust only to find it fits the XRS and not my XR, glad of that really, over $600 and with a 10% over dealer cost price, too much money! I ordered and paid for the parts to convert to rear disk brakes, $800 plus and did not include caliers or disks! Again, at 10% over dealer cost. Let's see, paid $300 down out of $500 for a graphic image, two versions, of how the car is planned to be built, so I can send it out with sponsor request letters.
Damm, this is an expensive project and not even really started, it will pay off and the bonus is a cool Matrix to drive around in like I did today in this nice San Diego weather

There is a bit of a ride penalty but not as bad as I though, the noise is a nusance though! Overall I would go with some 225/40/18's to keep the correct diameter and have a little better ride. I only went to 19's, very reluctantly, for show purposes as my car is mostly a show car.

In fact, I still may buy a light weight set of 17's for daily driving duties and use 225/45/17's if I can get at least 7.5" wide ones for a decent price and they weigh less than 18 lbs.
