08 Vibe - Knocking sound from dash.

I've just started to get a soft knocking sound coming from under the dash in the area of the passenger airbag. It is intermittant in that it will knock 6 to 8 times then stop for a few seconds then start again. The engine does not need to be running. Starts as soon as I turn the ignition key to the accessories position. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It happens with the fan off or on. The knocking sstarts right after I turn the ignition switch to the position where the electric windows and radio will work. I guess I'll call it the accessories or run position on the switch. The knocking occurs with the motor running too.

The knocking quit on its own. Amazing, they're building self-healing cars now!

06 Vibe also have knocking sound under dash

Mine too, when key is in "on" position, motor NOT running/or running, noise is still there.

I find in my 06 Vibe, when the cabin air recirculator button is on (as in turn on "AC" button and "air recirculator" both for MAX AC) the sound stops.

The sound is like my 93 Camry when I slide the manual lever from outside cabin air to recirculated cabin air. As if the door in the duct is opening, closing, opening, closing....

What will fix it? Please Help.

To whom it may concern:

This link sounds very much like what I am experiencing. My Vibe doesn't have a fancy climate control system that the 07 Camry has. But sounds like the same motor/knocking sound.
