Air Bag light on...

Last week, I noticed my "dummy" light, aka check engine light, coming on. It went away so I thought nothing of it. The dealership doesn't seem to think anything of it when it comes on and eventually goes away so I figure if they aren't too concerned I shouldn't be either.

This week however, I have noticed my airbag light is on. It isn't on all the time however. One time I will drive to work, it will be on. When I come back to my car to go home, it's off. Another time, It comes on, then goes off. Last time I checked it was off. Being it's an airbag I am thinking it would be in my best interest to take it to the dealership, however I am reading stories, after doing some research, where others have had this issue and once it is fixed it continued to come back on. One person even stated it set them back a grand to get it to go off.

Anyone know anything about this issue or have the same problem? I don't see any recall information on it either.

One other thing I must mention as well is that my required maintenance light doesn't come on anymore since I got a brake job at a local garage a year ago. I thought for a second maybe it is an electrical issue, but after a year when the issues the check engine light stopped working that doesn't sound right.

Don't know what car you have I have seen on cars that have side airbags maybe debris under the seat blocking the free travel of the harness when a seat is adjusted(dont unplug anything with the yellow plastic cable shielding) or intermittant open circuit in the spiral cable all the way to more costly repairs either way ,should have it diagnosed somewhere reputable these systems are difficult to check intermittant failures especialy with out the proper equipment and training to safely work on supplemental restraint systems.Mishandling could become dangerous if accidently deployed.
