Well i have a XRS Matrix 03 and it's less than a year old, but i noticed when there is compression on the engine espicially down shifting there is a grinding noise similar to that of a worn down brake pads and metal to metal contact.
Well Toyota took my ride gave me a rental and went to pick it up today after they called and had a chat with the certified Master tech assigned to fix my ride but he was on a day off and the other tech screwed up and so the following is now the status of my ride...
Update! Picked up mu ride and the problem is still there spoke to the toyo Master Tech assigned he was not pleased he was not there yesterday when they were doing the work now they will have to order more parts and change out more bearings and other #$@%, but I have all new gears and most of the tranny bearings replaced the car feels better than when it came off the lot they also put the Mobil1 Tranny oil in no cost these guys treat me well, I have to say they have given me such excellent service that even when the slip up like this u can't get mad at them...
man the car feels great but after the next service and replacement parts I think it will finally feel great

As u all know I have been having issues to put it lightly with my TriXx.
Well the saga continues...
Picked up the Car monday last and it felt sooo sweet well Thursday last the noise came back with revenge this time. friday I couldn't get to the dealership in time so washed my ride went grocery shopping park in the the furtherest region of the parking lot, on returning to my car there is a puddle under it. I know it was not there when I had parked investigated and it oil checked my engine oil level full it was "Transmission Oil"
i'm like wtf and looked underneath my ride and sure enough my tranny is covered with crudd..got home checked my garage and yes there too a puddle "Thank God for Redline" synthetic protection is worth it...
Took it back to Dealership this morning and the in their drive thru is a big puddle where I parked, on the hoist the tech said it seems he did not put a seal back properly....hmmmmm so took it apart, and put it back together and filled with he claims yota full synthetic claims $26 per litre whateva...went for test run and badda bing badda boom just operating the clutch grinding non stop ginding.....Long Story Short.
New Tranny Will be Ordered from Toyota Today for first thing Monday.....
The Tranny Got !@#$%& again...
-----------------------------------------
No Transmission available for my car in Canada......
They want me to bring the Rental back and drive my car till the transmission comes in I said no way....
So I called Toyota canada, they said they are not obligated to give me a car under the circumstances, and the dealer is providing the car out of goodwill....told them go !@#$ themselves.
I don't know if I want to buy another Toyota now, these are the times you get to really find out what your Manufacturer is like and just having the conversation with the Yota rep I don't like what i'm hearing. Apparantly the dealership has been providing the rentals out of good will, that 's probably where they can put the piece of crap XRS they sold me in the
f!@$##$%$ goodwill bin.....
Toyota Canada @-holes...........
There will be more ppl asking me bout my ride and how I like it!
hmmm I will tell them how much I like and all the problems this car has...
Lets see i'm not obligated to promote Toyota either so i will screw them just as much as they screw me....

You can't put this all on Toyota man. It is the individual dealership you are dealing with. Dealerships are owned by individuals, not Toyota. Do you drive the car hard?

y do u have shares in toyota. Why can't I put this on them...
I do not drive hard, took the car in when the noise was slight they had 2 turns at fixing it, and each time it got progressively worse, till now they put it back and didn't put one of the seals back properly i didn't notice the pools of tranny oil coming from the ride till it was too late now they pulled it apart apollogized and said new tranny will be ordered. Now tell me how that is my fault...cause your reasoning seems to be skewed and toyota is totally faultless in all this huh.....

If you go to Matrixowners.com, there is a guy called Flipmode and he had the exact same problem!
So for putting all this on to Toyota.....I think you should.
They should either complete "their" testing before launching a car, or if a problem arises (such as this one, where I feel is now common) they should just replace the whole tranny without the dealer going through red tape. If the dealer does not have to go through so much red tape, the problems would be fixed more quickly!

The mechanic at the dealership did this, not Toyota. There are almost always defects in products and if there are enough reports, there is a recall to fix the problem. Maybe your problem isn't too common. I am simply pointing out the fact that not all the blame should be put on Toyota in general. Seems to me you have been dealing with a crappy dealership/maechanic.
And no, I don't work for Toyota, but I do support their product.

What is the job of a mechanic? it's to fix problems, and defects.
What i'm saying there was a defect to begin with, from Toyota.
If you are a mechanic, a sales person, as customer service person, you are still a representative of Toyota. Therefore, i do not care about isolating 1 individual, 1 and all make up toyota, and all represent toyota. Therefore the problem is toyota...
how-ever u wanna spin doctor it, i got the problem, and the problem came about from a toyota defect, made worse by a toyota mechanic...hence the problem is still toyota period end of story.
