Gen1 Word of advice buy AEM Bypass, little tranny tech & ps Anyone Need Vibe/Matrix parts?

Thats right 03 vibe gt lasted 208k until my cai took a big gulp of H20 to my 2ZZ, rod - block / head - desk

Luckily a few weeks earlier I picked up an almost identical salvage Vibe GT

with a 175k of actual upstate NY Highway miles not like the 175k of nyc commuting with no oil changes for the last 20k my 1st motor was subjected to pryor to my ownership.

Also added South Bend stg 2 Kevlar Clutch, Lower mileage Celica C60(grinds in 4th should've stuck with the 208k unit lol) syncromesh and redline syn fluid, Speed Source shifter cable and base bushings, MWR SS Clutch Line, Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts, TRD 170 Thermostat, oem red coolant w/ redline water wetter, oem "turbine" Waterpump (better design from later model 2ZZ, celica gts and elise)

purs like a kitten
(sorry for the assinine voice over)

If anyones interested to get a celica tranny with rear mounted shifter into Matrix/ Corolla/ Vibe / Spyder, place trans in neutral remove the shifter assembly and counter weight from back of trans (drive out retaining pin and get off shaft I had to torch it as it was well-seized) unbolt 4x front bolts of shifter shaft, Loosen 24mm retaining "pin" carefully slide out shaft assembly, remove rear seal(I did may not be necessary) and plug rear with freezeout plug as shown

now swap appropriate shifter shaft reassemble, run it through gears to make sure you didn't F up, also celica has a driven speed sensor in diff that can be swapped out for a cap from your trans, also swap reverse sensor to get your lights and annoying beeper up and running

if going from Matrix/ Corolla/ Vibe to Celica/ Spyder you'll be missing 2x holes on the bellhousing used on the celica for shift cable bracket and for the pivot arm of the shifter on the spyder, btw its normal for the hole to go through into the inner clutch housing, if going spyder/ celica to Matrix/ Corolla/ Vibe put a bolt in hole to seal bellhousing other wise,
Measure 2x cut 1x -

and finally 5speed to 6speed swap requires custom shaft and optional reverse lockout from Monkey Wrench Racing / Little Rocket (newcelica / spyderchat) drive out retaining use the 6 speed shifters springs and spacers in same order on custom MWR shaft and use 5speed cover or MWR revese lockout cover

5 speed shaft

6 speed MWR custom shaft and reverse blockout plate

Anyway... I Digress as a reward I got the ol Bad Vibe some presents:
JDM Toyota Voltz badge

and Big Wacky TRD Tacoma 6speed Ball Knob

AND a Finally! a Fresh AEM DriFlow Filter and BYPASS VALVE

But as an Added Bonus you can try picking the bones of my Salvage Vibe GT on my for sale thread! so I can Recoup all the money I just bled out

Cheers, Good Vibes and Happy Trix to all
Michael

Sucks to hear about your failure, just curious what you did with the rest of your salvage rig? I just picked up my first Matrix project yesterday and it needs a few parts. Since I am new to the matrix I am not sure if Vibe body parts are the same or not, maybe someone can help me with those questions...

I might be interested in purchasing the entire car if the price was right.
