Hi guys,
My brother is looking for a new car, I don't know what to get him. He doesn't know know cars very much and aren't into cars. He is looking for a very relible car that is safe and can be driven all year round without any problems (like stuck in snow or skidding on slippery surface). I don't know what to get him, maybe the basic AWD Matrix what are you guys' opinon and what others should he consider?
thanks

Can I be your brother? You can buy me one!

Could you give us some more background? Like years of driving experience?
What does he like?

Well I am not paying for the car, my parents are, I am the only person that knows cars in the family so I will be the one helping him pick his.
My brother is now 21, and he drives very safely but he doesn't drives too slow. He haven't been in an accident. He doesn't know cars and are not into cars, he just wants a car that is reliable, AWD and stylish. So the Matrix AWD came to my mind. I don't like small SUV and don't think SUV suits my bro, so. I also dis-like the WRX and thinks they are over priced so... I need you guys' help because I am into older cars and don't know things about new models.
Are the Martix worth the money? And how does it handles and perform?

The Matrix feels a bit bigger than a compact car. You're also seated higher up. I'd hate to say it but almost minivan like.
I've only driven the XRS w/17" wheels and it handles extremely well for its height.
Basically, I don't think anyone can tell what your brother to get. He's gonna have to decide cuz it's all a matter of personal taste and how comfortable he feels in a certain car.
I think people who aren't "in to" cars will generally choose a car they're most comfortable with and not worry about how much hp or torque a car has.
We can all go on and on about how the Matrix has this or a car has that but it all boils down to what he wants.
Take him out on some test drives!

I totally agree with mistamatrix! now that he mentions it... let him havea feel for his future car before he buys it..... I always like to do that!! and yeha the AWD matrix handles pretty well.... I was driving in the hard Rain on saturday night and wow! I have never had this much fun! my older car would always lose control when I hit a puddle.....

I WOULD take a Suburu awd any day over a matrix. subura legacy or WRX with there 227 hp sh*tt and awd(think the legacy gt has 240hp). but i like the matrix. i like the subura legacy 92,93 with 2.2 liter. also suburu's are cheap huh?
