I have an offer on 2005 Matrix XR loaded...help

So 27,300 is the tag price are they able to move at all on that price. I have checked out what some of you Matrix owners have done to your Trix'es and i have to say they are sweat. But i need some advice on how to handle the situation of purchasing. They already made put 200 down to hold the car first off. But what are somethings that i should watch for , or options that i could get them to throw in.

Please hurry, i could be a Matrix by the 24th am.

Thanks.

Sorry about my vaugness. That's Matrix XR with the Option B package, so sun roof, 17" rims/tires, power everything, and that is GST included (CDN dollars). (Roughly 20,500 USD)

Was the sunroof part of the "moon and stars" package with the upgraded audio? The price appears reasonable but is it not province taxfree? If so, it could possibly come down a bit. However, I needed my car badly enough I bought it anyways.

I got my XRS 3 weeks ago cheaper than that. I paid 29,133 all taxes in. Here we have 7% GST and 8% PST. The XR with the option package is $2225 less than an XRS. Do the math. You should be able to deal about $1500 off the list price, especially this week being the end of the month. (I bought mine July 30). Good luck. Do some emails asking for their best price. You want to buy this week!

That's in US.

We can't really compare Canadian and US prices. Even after exchange, the prices don't match up. Generally, in the US, you guys pay way more for cars than we do.

Just to prove it, let's take the 2005 MSRP of a base, XR and XRS for both US and Canadian Matrix.

(using http://www.xe.com/ucc/ for conversion)

US MSRP:
base - 15,275 US = 19,954.47 CAD
XR - 16,755 US = 21,886.55 CAD
XRS - 19,265 US = 25,167.29

Canadian MSRP:
base - 16,925 CAD = 12,956.74 US
XR - 21,185 CAD = 16,213.41 US
XRS - 25,560 CAD = 19,561.70 US

The margins for 2005 are pretty close. We pay less for the base, it's about even but still less for us for the XR and we pay a tad more for the XRS.

It wasn't like this at all for the 2003 MSRP's. The difference was bigger. -> http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=237

I doubt that's the reason. Take any 3 cars at random and you'll come out w/ the same result. Even pick cars built outside of Canada.

Don't forget the base, XR and XRS have different options in Canada than the US. For example, you can't get the spoiler kit on an XR in Canada. The XRS in the US comes with 16" alloys. In Canada the 17" are standard. Etc., etc. So if we were to compare apples to apples instead of apples to oranges, the difference would be greater? Also, to import form one country to the other, isn't that simple. Certain mods have to be done.

i too agree that comparing across countries is difficult due to different trim offerings and cost/duty differentials. However, a previous postee said that $1500 discount is too unreasonable and it depends on how hungry the dealer/sales person is.
