Wheel spacers...

I have a buddy at work with a Toyota Matrix, he bought aftermarket 18x8 wheels and doesn't like the way the rears don't sit flush with the fender (about 1 1/4" in). He wants wheel spacers but neither him nor I have any clue about spacers and what needs to be done to use 'em. I did some research and the Matrix shares the same bolt pattern (5x100) as the Celica, so I'm assuming that a set of Celica spacers will work for his application. The question is, can he just buy spacers and bolt them on? Or will he need longer studs? Any help at all is much appreciated!

i think you will need longer studs like the H&R wheel spacers... i'm thinking of going that route soon but that's a later mod... here is a link to H&R http://www.hrsprings.com/site/frameproducts.html

and here is one place to buy them http://www.optauto.com/index.htm?par...21&deptid=2543

Thanks much! He is looking at something close to 25mm, so studs will be an issue

I'll have him check out H&R, thanks again!
