chips, anyone?

I just read in another post that the "lift" RPM is different between the 03, 04, and 05. I have an 04 and hate waiting till 6600 rpm till it kicks in. Is there an aftermarket chip, computer, magic wand or any way to lower this rpm? maybe an 03 computer?

A couple of dudes from Puerto Rico just tested the 03 ECU in an 04. It works.

I know that unichip can change the cam changeover rpm, but following a discussion i got with them, and their dyno testing, it appear that it don't help much.

On a stock engine, the Unichip is worthless. But you'll see better gains w/ the basic bolt-ons at the very least.

what about the corolla xrs computer...I hear that the max torque is around 4000 rpm.
I think I will scrap the idea about the 03 ecu in my 04. It isn't the price, it's the fact that it hasn't been tested too much and the smog pump may cause problems down the road. There has to be a reason they changed from 03 to 04.
