fuel consumption of the corolla and the matrix

hello today i was on my way to the toyota dealership to buy a new 2005 corolla sport

then for fun i decided to test drive a toyota matrix, not a bad car at all,

comparing it to the corolla sport, what do u all think is th better buy

is the matrix just as reliable as the corolla?
what do u people think and recommend?

The Matrix is a Corolla....

The difference between the two is that with the Matrix you'll be getting a sport wagon compared to a 4-door sedan!

I own the sport wagon and I would highly recommend it!!!! lots of room and fun to drive!

koss, I merged your two threads together to get all your answers in one thread.

People buy the Matrix mainly for its practicality. You'll get more cargo room out of the Matrix (obviously).

Although, the Corolla S and the Matrix base/XR share the same 130hp 1ZZ-FE engine, you'd probably squeeze out better fuel economy w/ the Corolla S because it's a tad lighter.

Also, the 2005 Corolla XRS and 2005 Matrix XRS share the 170hp 2ZZ-GE engine.
