intake cover

I was wondering if anybody is using anything for their cold air or short ram intake to keep any water out during the rainy season? I don't know if the heat shield is supposed to do that, other then redirecting heat to the intake or maybe a water repellant solution, i have no idea. I just don't want any water slipping through and messing up anything down the road.

So went with the bypass to help a little.

Chicken.

I've driven numerous times in heavy downpours and never had any problems or close calls for that matter. (I've got the TRD CAI)
The area where the air filter is situated w/ the CAI is very well protected.

You pretty much have to drive in a puddle tire-high to be worried about anything.

xrs22, the bypass valve is like another filter for the air filter.

i see. I was checking it out last night for the AEM air intake and it goes close to where the throttle body goes for water prevention. Although the filter needs to be cleaned from time to time. What is used? i have a air compressor and i can blow out any dirt matter and such or is there anything else to clean it?

If you use your air compressor make sure you blow the air from the inside of the air filter out.
They also have cleaning kits that has a cleaner and a re-oiler.
Personally, I use the K&N cleaning it.

I wouldn't use an air compressor to blow it out. Just follow the directions on the K&N cleaning kit.
