Please remind me stick how to :P

When I was 18 I got my driver license with stick, and than I never touch it again in 15 years, so most of the memores are gone, and I gonna test drive a XRS tomorrow, so please stick skiller here could u guys remind me a little bit?

1. Start the engine with N, right?
2. Frist gear must be very slow to engage?
3. Better not shifting when cornering?
4. Can I use second gear to start moving the car? will it easy to damage the car if the car is complete new?
5. In city daily drive, usually what's the highest shift that will be, usually 4? I mean not fast driving or racing, just nowmal drive.

I know this questions is silly, but I really forgotten, and I don't want embrassing moment happen with my test drive. thx :P

The minute you start to drive it'll all come back to you! You can start in neutral or any gear as long as the clutch is in! You'll get the feel of it before you know it & will know which gear you should be running in.

Yep

2. Frist gear must be very slow to engage?
From neutral, push down on the clutch on left foot, shift to 1st, then slowly let off the clutch on left foot as you give gas on the right foot. You will feel the gear engage and the car will start to move.

3. Better not shifting when cornering?
Downshift to slow down as you proceed 1/2 way around the turn, then use 2nd gear to re-accelerate and complete the turn.

If you use 2nd to start moving the car it will move too slow. Use 1st gear as specified in my first answer.

In stop & go traffic in the city, 3rd gear is usually the highest you need to go, unless you're going down a stretch. As you get the feel of the car, you will know for yourself.

Practice in a open area such as a parking lot after hours.

What I've posted is only a initial guideline.

As expressed by Mcnana, you need to spend seat time in the car to get yourself into the groove. Go drive the car.

Good luck!

I have been driving a stick my whole life...starting with a 79 dodge power wagon, then a 59 bug, then 66 ford truck w/ rock crusher 4 speed, then mustang gt....and now, a toyota tacoma and matrix xrs. the most difficult? the matrix. why? no torque. I was really not expecting to have to rev it as high as i did when i test drove it. I stalled it out twice before we got off the lot! I would seriously brush up on my driving before going to test drive the xrs.

imo this not the car to start a refresher course or learn to drive stick with. Very unforgiving...
You can sure as hell move off in 2nd, if you are concerned about stalling, and definately down shift before going into the surve, not while you are half way into the curve. just take it slow till it all comes back to you and your confidence builds.

if you are overly concerned then try this while you are stopped with right foot on the brake left foot on the clutch try easing the clutch up ever so slowly to the point where the car starts to feel as if it wants to go forward this will get you familar with the engagement point do this repeatedly till you get confident in moving off in first then everything after that is elementry...

Wouldn't recommend starting in 2nd, there isn't a tonne of torque and you'll have to slip the clutch quite a bit, meaning extra wear and possibly glazing the clutch and flywheel.
