It doesn't matter if your car is an XR or XRS, there is an easy trick that could get you horsepower. Ever heard of the tornadoair or spiralmax. These are small devices that goes inside of your air intake tube. What it actually does is it creates a spiral, twister like air going into the combustion chambers resulting in an more efficient air-to-fuel mixture and much more efficient fuel burning. This can increase your mileage up by as much as 15% and get you some small horsepower increases at the same time. Well if you don't believe me there is dyno graphs to prove it at tornadoair.com. But you don't have to buy it from them, you can make it yourself and believe me it's not that hard. I made mine out of an aluminium can. Go to tornadoair.com and get your idea.

Just for the information; I did this to a 1ZZ. I didn't notice anything different until I was coming home on the Freeway. At high speeds, this device will give you a push. I don't guarantee it to work but it's a cheap advantage that just takes a little time of creating.

That Tornado thing is a scam ! Sport Compact Car Magazine did a full test of the product and declared it to be a S-C-A-M !!
