bad luck...or is it?

Well, in late October, somewhere in Mississippi on our way home to Louisiana from Ohio, my wife ran her Matrix into the rear of my Tacoma, we had minimal damage (a minor crease or line on the front bumper cover) to the Matrix and in need of a new tailgate for the Tacoma. No big deal.
Then, two weeks later, just a mile into Pennsylvania, we hit a metal chair that flew out of a truck on interstate 81. CRUNCH!!! We made it to Massachusetts and found a local repair shop. 2200 dollars and three trips back to the shop later, we are good to go and the car looks great.
After the chair incident, my wife almost refuses to drive so I take her to work and back everyday. Then it came....Saturday, after stopping at a red light to yield for a car coming (I think the laws state you are supposed to do this, but the way they drive up here, I have to wonder if it is a law) we get slammed in the rear! Unbelievable! To both of our disbelief, there was no speakable damage to the Matrix.
We were expecting(once again) to find parts scattered all over the road. I took some rubbing compound to the scuffs on the rear bumper and that took care of any sign of a hit. I don't know if it is the location of the bumpers of the Matrix or a combination of our bumper location and the cars bumper that hit us(and the level of my tailgate), but we came out unscaithed!
There is no point to this post, just telling you guys another chapter in our Matrix owning lives. Got any good stories to share?

P.S. I toasted a 4v32 golf last night!

yeah check to see if the actual bumper was pushed in a little 'cause if it get hit again, even something small could cause the airbag to deploy. That's about 2500 to get reinstalled again.

Canada

you should have the looked at the styrofoam inside the bumper may have gotten a little compacted this absorbed the impact....if it is squished it wount absorb it the next time.

As for the comment about the air bags dont listen to xrs22 vbmenu_register("postmenu_545950", true); the air bags dont have anything to do with REAR bumpers....for that matter the front bumper .... is all about a decelleration sensor that feels the impact.... Is poeple like that , that make comments about something they know nothing about that make people affraid of air bags......

And the saga continues...Yesterday(Jan. 1) I was at the local drug store and had to stop for a car backing out. I just happened to look in the rearview a half second before some old bastard ran into my driver side back door. I yelled while surveying the damage. No harm no foul.

xrs22 you better read the post again he said he was rear ended which would result in being hit in the rear bumper, so if you didn't mean the rear bumper then then there is no point to your post about the air bags, and no it can't happen cause as Mikes_matrix mentioned it doesn't matter if the bumpers were previously banged or not Air bag sensors work on deceleration, if you strike an object or an object strikes you (from the front) your vehicle is going to decelerate the amount of this deceleration, (or reverse acceleration will cause it as well) tells the sensors how hard the impact was and from there it signals the ECU to release the airbags and what stage to use, if not both. So ya learn the facts on something like this before commenting on it. Air bags are a good thing yet lots of people are scared of them and false posts like yours scare them even more. Nobody was saying you were dumb just saying know the facts before commenting.
