fender flares

I don't know if this has already been posted, well for matrix anyway. I was wondering if this would be a lame ass idea to put on the matrix. I don't really like that straight down look along the wheel wells. Here it is--------------?

I've got fender flares, and I think they make the matrix looka whole lot better.

Maybe you could figure out how to mount the vibe "cladding" on a matrix...I always did like the look of the vibe but opted for the matrix for a better warranty, no paint problems and around 2000 less. I would seriously look into the vibe trim.....

You already have the body kit....finding some kick ass fender flares would be so easy to mold in to the kit you have...making it a "wide body" kit. Then you can get some wheel spacers to fill the wheelwell out better. I forgot you just got the car painted...oh well, they should still have a little paint left. you could get them to paint them pretty cheap i'm sure.

exactly bro. that was gonna be my plan. I more than enough paint to cover that i just have to shave them down to fit into the kit and then it'll be styln'. Then i gotta find the wheel spacers and i'm already prospecting some 17" for $300 or $399 w/ tires. I wanna get my exhaust first but whatever better deal comes up first then i'm on it.

Dude...I would just get some "el cheapo" 20 dollar ebay mufflers and have a shop make a y-pipe to fit your rear body kit. You could use some of the existing pipe and just cut the factory muffler off, add a pipe to lengthen the original pipe, and join in an "L" looking pipe to mount the other muffler. It doesn't really matter what it looks like because it won't really be seen.
Yes, I know they are round and the kit has square-ish cut outs, but any good body man(or do it yourself) can cut and mold a nice custon cut out for the duals. It would look sweet as hell. I just wish my wife would let me do more to ours. If she did, My car would be TIGHT!!!
Now, about the flares...That is going to take some work to try to get the vibe flares to fit right, or any flare for that matter. But like I said bafore....you are dealing with fiberglass and it is easy to work with.

yeah, trimming the flares won't be a problem and i'm working on the exhaust. For $230 i can get 2.25 pipe w/ muffler but i don't know about a new converter. I'll lose the 2nd one and keep the one closest to the headers but to get a aftermarket one. Maybe i can get a deal on the 2nd exhaust because it'll look a lot better. Of course i was going to start buying all the pieces that i need for the exhaust and just have them install that, even the pipes too. Well on my list of mods to get:

1.Exhaust system (dual, if i have enough $)
2.Lowering springs or coilovers
3.Headers
4.Flares
but whatever i can get a good deal on first is what i'll get first.

just go from the axle back. You don't need to replace the whole thing. You won't really gain too much power anyway. It can be done really cheap if you want it to.
1. just unbolt the exhaust at the axle
2. cut the factory muffler off
3. weld a pipe at the bend where it heads towards the old muffler straight towards the back of the car
4. weld on about 18" long with an elbow where the old muffler was
5. weld on two mufflers

I'll see if I can post a sketch for you

that doesn't sound too bad either. Since i can't afford a whole stainless steel system then that will work. Then i should be a whole lot less then if i provide the mufflers and have them install the second exhaust and hack off the resonator.

Why take off the resonator? You are going to lose torque. I think your best bet is going to be dealing with just the connection at the axle and back from there.
Of course, I have been looking into an exhaust control valve. I want to run a "piggyback" exhaust pipe from the header back and have it open when the airbox opens at 4000 rpm. This way, I can save what little low end torque there is, and it will be totally unrestricted too. I found one in that Super Street Buyers Guide you had mentioned in another post. You may look into that too.

I guess it is easy for me to say this and that because I work in a fab shop. This kind of stuff I have always been able to do myself so it never cost me more than supplies

Does the control valve go onto the existing pipe? I saw that in the mag. also and i got a couple of muffs. (ha ha muffs.) on ebay. I'll have to go back to the muffler shop and see how much just for them to install the 2 mufflers w/ existing pipe. I'll probably get them in a couple of weeks until next payday and my wife get paid same time too.
