so i was at the toyota dealer today... for regular oil change etc... and i went to the parts area and asked the guy about TRD parts for 04 Matrix xrs.... i've been to the TRD site... and it says there isnt a cold-air intake for 04 xrs... but the guy at the parts store said there was so i'm confused... anyone know the true story?? oh yeah and i got price listings do you think these are good prices let me know...
TRD parts:
quick shifter $164.08
cat-back exhaust $650.46
CAI $256.50
Kit, coil over $1352.81
thats before taxes... let me know what you guys think it will help out a lot...
Yeah if u got money to burn, why the hell not. I've seen the TRD quick shifter on ebay for about half that but u have to install yourself. So play it by hand.
Those prices are insanely high. They're worse than what TRD Canada charges us!
That parts guy is also misinformed. The TRD CAI is only made for the 03 XRS because of the air/smog/whateveryouwannacallit pump they added in the 04 XRS. The only intake that takes the pump into account for the 04 XRS is Injen. But physically, the TRD CAI can fit in the 04 XRS. Someone proved that by installing it in their 04 XRS. I can't remember though what they did with the air pump (if they ignored it or not).
Second, the TRD exhaust is not a catback. It's an axleback. And they want $650.46 for it?!
this was the information he gave me on the quote he printed out... the only thing i didnt get was the CAI until you brought up the exhaust... but thats what it says on the quote " Matrix CAT EXH"... and for the CAI he was just looking at the parts catalog... maybe he miss read it... whats the difference between cat and axle? oh yeah... and by the way those prices are after my fathers discount cause he gets 10% off...
still that high after 10%, fuuuuuuuck. Have a looksy under your car from the rear axle. It bolts on from the axle back. that's the best way i can describe it i'm gettin' a little drunk.
fs: 03 MATIX xrs trd cai
i have a slightly used trd cai for sale. i had it for my 98 corolla that i am swapping in the 2zz. i got this off of PrecizeStylez. it will not fit and i am having a custom one made. please make reasonable offer. Last edited by mantisII : 12-15-2004 at 03:28 PM.
go after this guy, he might still have it, used though if u don't mind.
cesium, a catback exhaust runs from the cat (catalytic converter) all the way to the tailpipe. An axleback only runs from the axle to the tailpipe. The difference basically is the the extra pipe you get in the catback that runs from cat to the axle (or 'b' pipe or 'midpipe).
Catbacks usually yields more power than an axleback because the extra pipe is larger than the stock pipe thus giving the exhaust better flow.
yeah, what mista said. I just was being lazy is all . What side is the exhaust on the base and the XR model. I wonder if it's cheaper to get an exhaust set up if the exhaust is on the passenger side and throw one on a XRS model?
I'm gonna go ahead and convert it to the passenger side. I wanted to make it dual but i'm not sure what gain if any i'll get. I'll just have an open in the rear bumper on the driver side. If i can get a camera i'll post new pics.
well there's not "good" and "bad" prices but "good" and "high" prices. If your not in a big hurry do more research i'm sure u can find more reasonable prices 'cause thats what i'm doing. If i had more than enough money to spend then i would get the "name brand" models and such but i don't. I have a 2nd child on the way and my spending limit went down a few notches. Id'e like to get my exhaust in the beg. of next year and headers those are the two hightest priced on my list so far.
so i called up longo and power toyota today.. and ask them about there ehaust... POWER wasnt of any big help in answering the question... is trd exhaust actually cat back or is it just axle back... but what longo said sorta confused me more... i believe this is what they said... it bolts on to the axle... but has a pipe that goes to the cat... sorry for all the retarded noob questions.... but thanks for all the help everyone i just dont want to get screwed
Canada price in Canadian dollars sport muffler (axle back ) about $960 list is $1000
CAI about $387 list is $430
Shifter $240 list it $270
and the listing for the CAI is shown for the 2003 year only....may be modified to fit...Im not sure
