If i were to get headers put on would i have to get an aftermarket intake manifold? Is there one for the XRS?

Why replace the "HEADER" that the car comes with? It is designed to produce the best torque available. And you want to put a freer flowing header on there and lose what little torque you already have? These cars have headers already and changing it would be useless.

You know in retrospect there's really not much to put on is there? With the exception of having an exhaust system and intake for perpetual gain of any kind of HP. Oh yeah, the Unichip only it's about as much as my damn car payment . By the way i got my lift on yesterday for shits and giggles, it was pretty cool. I was a bit apprehensive at first not knowing the full capability of the engine and i didn't really get lift at first. Reading about it is one thing but knowing how it actually works has to be a hands on experience, well that's how i learn anyway. So no need for headers, then why manufacture aftermarket ones then? I kinda had an idea looking through other forums, mainly celica because of the same type engine and there was really no gain w/ the use of aftermarket headers but i just wanted to get a little more insight and direction. After all that's what this site is for i guess.

truthfully, the aftermarket header will produce more power....but with the loss of much needed torque, and only at high high RPMs. so for us daily drivers there is no need for it

I'm working my way down the parts list now. So just exhaust and intake maybe a rev. limiter if needed. What about aftermarket cat. converter and resonator? If i get the converter will i need only one since the trix has two of them? Maybe i'll get the Greddy unit and exhaust control valve. I saw the price for the control valve it's like $400 bucks or somethin', fuck me that's a lot.

You aren't listening to what I'm saying. You need the torque that you are going to lose after replacing all that stuff. SAVE YOUR MONEY. The 2 or 3 hp is not worth the negative torque. Unless you are racing the car with very little street use, Save your bucks. You will never notice the difference except for noise and maybe at 7500 rpm and up which is almost pointless.

And leave the rev limiter alone. It's there for a reason, and it isn't to prevent your motor from making more power. THAT would be a waste of money.

Hey XRS22, I'm not getting after you or trying to piss you off. I just don't like to see people waste thier money on a product that "promise" things like more power. The truth is, you could buy that stuff and you may actually feel a difference.....but at what cost? I knew a guy who took his head off his acura, sent it to get it ported and extrude honed, got it put back on and after 2500.00, he gained 10 horsepower. I wasn't impressed and he was sooo bummed out. The only way that will make a big difference is when you are racing and you are fighting for hundredths of a second...even thousanths. In the racing world, every bit counts....but in the real world, you probably won't see a difference. Please don't take me the wrong way and I hope I wasn't upsetting you with my comments.

I'm just basically getting everyone's input so that i don't pay a lot for anything that won't produce nothing. I just wanna get the gist of the situation so that it's something i can work off of and not be headed in the wrong direction. I'm learning as i go and i'm still trying to better understand my engine and the capabilities of it. I haven't gotten any flak so far and everyone has been really helpful and informative. Thanx
