will these work........

I know the stock wheel on the XRS 17x7, will there be a lot of rubbing if i get 17x8 wheels? Does everybody have the same 17x7 but in diff. wheels or do anybody go wider? The reason i read another thread in the MR2 forum about wheel spacer are not good to have on all the time or get longer bolts and such. So if i can't use the spacers would it be any diff. if i got a wider wheels to compliment the flared fenders i might install. Personally i like the curvature of the wheel wells.

I was going to buy some wide spacers for mine. I was looking at the 1" spacers to move the wheel out to the edge of the wheelwell. They are around 100.00 a pair though. Kind of pricey but I think they will be worth it in the long run. They have studs in them and they use lugs to mount them to the hub, then you use your original lugs on the new studs....Comprende? Just try to stick with the billit aluminum ones...not the cast ones. These are stronger and safer.

Why put on the spacers at all???
they change the geomety of the suspension and steering ......spacers are not for use with stock wheels .....use them when you want to buy rims that look great but are not the right offset use spacer to correct this..

$100.00 a Pair???? that $200.00 for 4......again why???? you could be buying wheels from someone like this For $200 Then you car will start to stand out ..... not just the rim in the fender sticking out......

Then what about 17x8 wheels? I planned on getting diff. wheels anyway, chrome sucks and that's why i was asking about the spacers or someone who has 17x8" wheels. If they have the 17x8 wheels then i wouldn't need the spacers. I just wanted to find out of they did a lot of rubbing on either side.

By the way the rims are not chrome they are 17" rims vrd splitv wheels 5 lug gunmetal set of 4
r

if you get the right offset the wheels will work fine..... you just need to look at the stock wheel and compare if you have a little more than 1/2" you have room then you only need 1/2" at the outside for clerance .....if the rimm is the right off set 1" means 1/2" each side to keep the geometry correct.......the bigger qestion should be what size tire are you planing to use......if you are planning to use the stock size tire same question again ...........WHATS THE POINT???????????

Well i know the offset now is +45, now what are the increments of the offsets do they go by 1's or what? Well when i get the wheels i can always have them put them on first to see what i like. If not i'll just keep it the same but with a diff. wheel.

well, Mike....The only offset I have been able to find is a 40mm. The factory offset is 45mm. So I am under the impression that the wheel will sit in 5mm more than factory and I want it to sit 1 inch further out. I really don't want to spend 200.00 for a set of spacers, and probably won't. But...Can you tell me another alternative?

Then I guess you will have to look for a 8" wide rim with a 32mm of set or a 7" rim with 20mm of set ......Remember that you are messing with the factory Geometry .....if you were to draw a line from the centre of the upper strut bearing down through the lower ball joint and veiw this imaginary line from the front of the car the line will extend to the centre of the tire on the ground .....other than slight variations you can expect major tire wear if you just put spacers absolute tire wear!!!!!
