I have gone to every dealer in my area and cannot find a 6spd matrix xrs anywhere. Should it be this difficult to find or is it just the area where i live?

I had to order my XRS 6spd. It took just over a month to get.

If you really want one you should try ordering it through your dealer.
The XRS are hard to find, around southern California anyways.

At this point, you're probably gonna have to order one and expect to wait a few months wait for it.

I was lucky .... I managed to snag the XRS that the dealer (Richmond Hill Toyota, just north of Toronto) was ordering from the factory which was to be used as their demo car ... but I got it for myself instead. I only had to wait 10 days !! So now, my dealer does not have any Matrixes on their lot whatsoever... not even a demo !! Needless to say ... they would not budge on the MSRP since the demand far exceeds the current supply of this car. Luckily, it was the colour I wanted .. SILVER, with a 6-speed.

You know it would be nice to have a Matrix meet somewhere in TO once everyone's wait is over!! The most number of Matrices I saw together on the street was 3 (including mine).

No Matrix yet.
I really hate saying that.

Anyhow, I'm down for a meet as soon as I get mine. I'm sure we could gather about a dozen or so Matrices together from here and other Matrix boards.

I ordered my Sway bar kit (F&R) from http://www.toyotaparts4u.com. It ran me well under $600 CDN...the dealerships here were telling me around 6 weeks, they will ship it to me in one week.
As for my Sportline's, I ordered them from NOPI. This was the kicker, they cost me just over $500 and would take 7-10 days. I sent a RFQ to SpeedTech 2 weeks earlier and they never got back to me until 2 days after I placed the order with NOPI. SpeedTech wanted $330 and would only take them 2-3 days.
That's me and my impatient self for ya!! Ah well, maybe next time...

Where in NY are you.

if you are in nyc area, go to bayside star toyota. i got a decent price for my xrs 6 speed w/ roof and a few other goodies.

Ask for alan, and tell him ed sent you.
there probably wont be any xrs's available in the showroom as i went through many dealers in the area and none available. plenty of xr's if that is your flavor. but supposedly mine is being built next week and delievry around mid august.
