I have a 2005 Matrix. All my windows wiggle back and forth when they are down a few inches. When I go over bumps in the road, they rattle and the noise is driving me crazy. Does anyone else have this problem. The dealership already took a look at it and said they couldn't find anything wrong, but i recently checked out a Pontiac Vibe (both made in Fremont, CA), and his window wiggles just a tiny bit and he doesn't notice the road noise. Thanks.
Despite their similarities, I don't believe the Vibe and Trix are manufactured in the same place. The Vibe is manufactured in California but the Trix is manufactured in Canada.
For the record, the windows on my 05 XR are fine. My 97 Tercel however...
Just bought a XR matrix last week and haven't notice of wobbly windows. But I'll be on a watch for it.
I would try pressure the technicians at Toyota to get it fix while the car is still under warranty. Perhaps the car is a "lemon", which you want to avoid other problems in the future. If Toyota cannot fix the windows from wobbling, tell them you want a new one.
I have the wobbly windows issue on my 05 XR I also had to get my all my doors resealed because of rattling. Surprised from an import. I had less rattling on my old Saturn
And yes, the Matrix for canada is produced at TMMC in cambridge.
Vibe is produced in Freemont California at a joint GM/Toyota plant called NUMMI.

My power windows in my 05 Trix XR don't wobble, or at least I haven't noticed them making any racket. I've got to go over some serious bumps to get rattles out of my car.
I have the seal that goes around the window on the driver side that's binding up in 2 places. rear window move oddwardly when they go up and down they tend to shift like from side to side.
Took my 05 Matrix XR to the dealership because of the wobbly windows. The service guy couldnt understand it, so the service manager had to come over and he couldnt understand why they wobble. The service manager made a phone call and verified that this is standard in all 05 Matrix's, Can anyone check thiers again?? Rear windows, you have to have them all the way down (as far as they can go down) and check it then. Please? I just wantto make sure this isnt going to be a problem. Thanks !
I have a 2004 Matrix XRS, and have the same problem, and same results from dealership. I haven't done anything about it since then.
Now, I've seen another thread (forget if it is on this forum, or on the MatrixOwner's forum) about a possible flaw in the door stop possible damaging the window (not sure if it applies to newer vehicles as well). I am sure that a "wobbly" window would not help this other problem.
After alot of questions and answers. My coworker finally bought her brand new 05 Matrix XR and guess what?? Her windows dont wobble. Can anyone suggest who to send off an email to at Toyota or suggest a follow up for this issue?
If your windows wobble, and it's manual crank, and you're within warranty, go get the window regulators changed out.
