Tested out Rice4Life's TWM shortshifter last night.
my random thoughts:
- extremely short throws. Feels as if there's only 1/2" of travel from neutral to a gear.
- shiftknob is more vertical (see pics)
- the boot being all bunched up isn't a big issue. Looks as if it's getting sucked in. Very minor in the bigger scheme of things.
- throws 1, 3, 5 seem longer than 2, 4, 6. They don't seem equi-distant. (unless it was just me)
- every gear goes in w/ a 'thud' and feels real hard. 4th goes in w/ a 'thud-thud'.
- I love the 2-3 shift
- hold off on the quick downshifts until you're totally used to it otherwise you're looking to mis-shift especially 6-4. You definitely don't wanna jam it into 2nd by accident
- still don't think it's worth $249-$269US
- I'd buy it...if it went down to $200US
