Does the stock radio on the 2005 Matrix XR (the 6 disc one) play mp3 discs? What about the JBL model upgrade?

I have a 2005 XR with the 6 disc head unit, and mine does not appear to read MP3. I tried 4 different discs in mine that all worked great in my Alpine head unit in my Maxima, but none of them worked. Not sure about the JBL upgrade though.

I know the stock 6 disk changer on the 05 doesn't. Not sure about the upgraded JBL.
