How to silence the buckle up alarm?

Hi there.

I can't stand it anymore. Is there an easy way to kill this stressful alarm?

I'm a dummy so step by step would be appreciated.

TIA

Stef.

How about putting on your seatbelt? Just a thought.

I always put my seatbelt, but G0% Da**!^, give me a couple of seconds to do it

Also I like to untie myself when I back up the car in special situations...

I mean live is stressful enough, I don't need a car to brake my ears and tell me what to do...(I'm already married.... )

Put your seatbelt on... THEN put the key.

Well, it could be worse, you could be be driving a garbage truck and have to listen to the backup alarm all day long.

Slipknot the 05 models beep anoyingly increasingly quicker for 50 sec on passenger side and a 1 minute and 45 secs.. driver side. But ya I agree put you seatbelt on. it won't do it. As far as needing time well you have all the time in the world until you put it in drive and go over 15km/hour

What you might want to do is find an old seatbelt extender. Basically, its just like an extra buckle. you plug this piece into the seatbelt clip by your waist. its always clipped in, so the it tricks the system. all you do is plug your regular seatbelt into it when you wanna wear your seatbelt. I wouldn't do it for passenger side, since the passenger sensing airbag would get tricked.

probably hard to find, but other than messing with the electronics, its the simple solution.

I got mine to turn off by adapting instructions on how to get the Prius to stop beeping in reverse. Here's how I did it:

Get in the car and turn the key to on (don't start the car,) then change the odometer to display "odo" and not trip A or B.

Turn the key off.

Turn the key back to on. Within six seconds of doing this, press and hold the odometer button. Do so for 10 seconds. Then, while still holding the button, buckle up, edit: then unbuckle. The "odo" display should then change to say "b-on." Push the odo button to get it to read "b-off." Then wait for the display to change back to the odometer. That's it, you're done.

The car will still beep right when you turn it on if you don't have a seatbelt, but it won't beep if you or your passenger unbuckles for a moment. Salvation!

If you're having trouble getting this to work, I did this on my 2005 Matrix XR 5-speed manual with the door closed and no one in the passanger seat.

I took instructions for a Prius and screwed around with it. I can't remember where I got the Prius instuctions, but they were a lot different.

Bummer that you can't get it to work, that's exactly how it works on mine...it's quite simple, just get in the car, turn the key to on (but don't start it,) push the odo button and hold it for awhile (I slowly counted to 10,) fasten your seatbelt, unfasten your seatbelt, and then push the button so b-on goes to b-off, wait for it to go away, and you're done. I just double checked my directions, and they work, at least on my car...

Maybe try it with the brake on or without the brake, I can't remember which way I did it. I had the car in gear (as it should be when parked) and with the emergency brake on.

Yeah I think you have to buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt, which I originally didn't type. I editted it so that's in there now. My bad.
