Canadian matrix owners, help me price out Matrix!!

I just test drove a Matrix today, and I'm seriously excited about buying one. However, I'm jittery about overpaying for it. Can any Canadian Matrix owners help me out some?

(Sorry for any cross-posting crimes I've committed.)

The car I'm interested in is a Matrix XR Auto trans, B package.

The MSRP (in CDN) is 24,455.00. I'd love to know the invoice price, but unfortunately, in Canada, unless you pay, you can't find out the "invoice price of the car". Based on American MSRP/invoice price, the markup is roughly 10%. So... I'm estimating the invoice price here is around $22,500.00 CDN. (Remember this is all before tax or levies).

So,
(1) what did you all pay for your matrix (hopefully comparable models)? and
(2) Do you think starting negotiations at $22,500 CDN is good?

*sigh* I hate the feeling that I'm about to be ripped off. Any help you can give me would be grand.

Brian.

Mark-up here in Canada on a Matrix is no where near 10% it is actually 7.25% if you want to figure out invoice from there. And you will never get a matrix for invoice. You can probally save between 700-1000 off the vehicle, Start Negotiations at about 23000 and stay strong on the third go round should end about 23500-23700 that will be rock bottom. ++ of course. Speaking from 3 years of selling Toyota in Canada.

I got $1632 off list for my '05 XRS that listed for $25,600=$23968 + Freight and taxes. That relates to just under 7% off list. That was last July, 2004 when the 05's just came out.
