Hey, anyone know how to make the sunroof on an 05 Matrix XR close without stopping and making you push the button again halfway? Not that big of a deal, but it is annoying cause you have to push the button longer, and I have a manual so I sorta need my right hand free. I wish the Matrix had more auto window buttons, especially for the sunroof. Might see if I can figure out a way to rig them up myself...
Be aware this a a safety feature. Somebody sometime decided to stick their head or other body part out of the roof and hit the closure button in the process. If you alter the system and somebody gets hurt, even if it happens after you sell the car, you may be responsible for damages.
how often do you stick parts of your body out the sunroof while driving? your passengers would have to be complete idiots to not notice you reaching up to push the "close" button, not notice the glass is closing, and not have the reaction to pull their hand/head/private parts/whatever out of the sunroof when they shouldn't even be out the sunroof to being with. You'd have to be an even bigger moron to close the sunroof on yourself. I want to figure out a way to make it go automatically, or at least make the stupid switch only require one push and hold instead of two. If you have any tips on how to accomplish this, let me know. Otherwise, I'll let y'all know if I manage to figure anything out. So far, I haven't had any luck...
I too was hoping someone had a fix to override the sunroof "safety" feature. You really have to wonder how far auto manufactures will go to "protect" people from doing stupid things.
Chances are, the person who would be saved from serious injury by the sunroof safety feature already has broken fingers from getting them caught in the power windows. There's no safety feature there, or one that prevents you from closing the car door on your hand, or one that prevents you from dropping the hood on your head. Don't forget the hatch, there's another accident waiting to happen! These cars are so dangerous. Can't they do more to protect us from ourselves!!!
Seriously, if you're that much of an idiot you shouldn't even be driving in the first place!

Personally I think this falls under the same category as that stupid reverse beeping in the 6 speed. I was told by a toyota service guy that if I removed the beep myself it good void my warranty if something goes wrong with my transmission. Toyota must have some really f*ning stupid customers and employees to install these "safety" features. Can someone please explain the logic behind this, how does a beep have anything to do with my transimission? If i was stupid enough to SLAM it in reverse while going forward I dont think a beep would prevent me from doing thatt. I can understand moving from a stopped position and reversing into someone, but what does that have to do with my trany?
Until I read this post I had no idea why my sunroof stops half way.
Now it all fits together... Toyota must think their drivers are a bunch of dumbasses!
Why do you think they put a Do not use in the shower sticker on hair dryers? Or McD puts warning Hot Coffee on their coffee cups. There are morons out there and the only reason some people are alive is because it is illegal to kill them.
