TRD intake question

I need help!!!

I was given a TRD intake for my Matrix XR. My bro got it for me and told me that it was for a Base/XR model, but the box has it label for XRS. What's the difference? Can i still use if even if it was for a XRS?

I don't actually know this for sure, but I imagine it would work. I think the 1ZZ-FE in the base/XR and 2ZZ-GE really aren't that different, just the 2ZZ-GE has variable valve timing. I'd imagine that their intakes are fairly similar since they have the same displacement and all. I just pulled up pics of both the engines and the intake appears to be very similar between the two.

Either way, if it fits, it'll work.

The pipe size between the two are different; xrs 2.75" and xr/base 2.5".

Not only that but the throttle body is positioned a little differently. I got a XR intake from ebay just to see if it'll fit it kinda did but it wasn't positioned right for the throttle body to get around the battery. But hey you can just sell it to me so i can get rid of my frankenstien intake from a 2-piece to a 1-piece.

Magnaflow i heard is the best to get, try neverenuf.com a lot of ppl have bought from that vendor. I went custom on mine w/ 2.5"pipe and i'm gonna run a test pipe instead of a cat.. I'm getting a Magnaflow muffler in a day or two and gonna take the other one off.

If all you've done is add an intake, adding an exaust will likely have minimal performance benefits on your car unless the stock XR exaust system is just an absolute piece of crap. The XR has only a 130 hp engine, it doesn't need a huge mackdaddy dual exuast super-fancy thingermabob. I'd suggest something like better headers, then do exaust.

you could probably go up to 2 1/4 piping or a new exh. manifold. For the XRS i had to get mine ported since the aftermarket manifolds suck for the matrix xrs. Unless u go supercharger or turbo then you'll need and exhaust and other things as well. Check out ATRmotorsports.com for the new line for the matrix base,xr and xrs turbo kits for $2500. It's in the final stage to get the dyno numbers since they already have those numbers for the celica.
