Question oil change

I am trying to find out how many quarts of oil my '05 matrix XR holds,
it's not listed anywhere in the manual. Can any one help me out?
2005 Matrix XR front wheel drive. It has the smaller motor.

Thank you ;
Jayson

1ZZ-FE engine oil capacity

3.7 litres (3.9 US qts, 3.3 Imp qts) - drain and refill w/ oil filter change
3.5 litres (3.7 US qts, 3.1 Imp qts) - drain and refill w/o oil filter change
4.2 litres (4.4 US qts, 3.7 Imp qts) - dry fill

EDIT: doh! Beat me to it!

Curious what your local Toyota dealer wants for oil and filter for a 1ZZ-FE Engine.

Mine wants $5.65 for a filter and $2.65 a quart. A oil change special at the dealer runs $12.95 - I think their regular price is $19.95.

$5.65
$2.65 X 5
=
$18.90 to buy stuff myself, do it, and dispose of oil. Doubt it will be much cheaper per case.

go to sams club or costco and buy Dino oil in bulk, should be a good bit under $2.00/qt that way. You can find filters alot cheaper than $6 too.

Oil change in my civic runs me about ~$1.90/qt and I dont remember how much for filters. I just bought a bunch of Honda OEM ones online. You can do the same with toyota filters, although they may be Denso/Nippon brand IIRC.

Also, be sure they dont overfill the oil. MANY places do that when you get an oilchange. I just had to drain a quart out of my moms Solara because of that

These measurements are not accurate. For the oil and filter change in my 1zz. I needed 4.5 quarts of oil

Keep in mind that there was an update on the oil fill level on the Corolla/Matrix platforms starting in 2005? - possibly sooner.

That there is an updated dipstick that moves the "full" mark up by 10mm, leading one to fill with just over 1/2 quart more oil. Will make your oil change fill w/filter go from 3.9 quarts to ~4.5 quarts to make it to the "full" line.
