body kit?

Can you get the XRS body kit for the XR model? My Matrix is being built as we speak so is it possible to get them to put the XRS body kit on? Or is it better to purchase it outside the dealer? How much do they go for? And will this void any warranties? Sorry for all these questions but i'm new to this and this is my first car. Thanks.

the oem kit for the XRS is like $800+ and i don't know if they do the conversion but you can ask and just have them tack it on the overall price. That way u don't have to pay it out other than making payments on the car. I doubt it'll void the warranty since it's from the dealer and it's a toyota product.

Warranties cannot be completely voided by the addition of a part in the U.S.. The Magnuson-Moss act specifies that only the new part and whatever that part affects are not warrantied. Adding a body kit cannot void the warranty on an engine or drive train for example. Any failure not caused by the addition of the new part is still covered.

Hey guys thanks for the info . I"m from Toronto and i don't know how the accessory options aree in the states but here they offer an option called rear and front bumper effects and basically it's a front spoiler and a rear chin, is this the XRS skirt package? Cuz i was asking the dealer and they said in order to make an XR with and XRS body kit they need to replace the whole front and rear bumper....is this true? Is it worth it to add these bumper effects in terms of cosmetics? Any information would help be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone have any pics of the front spoiler/rear chin on the 05 Matrix?

The rear bumper kit is the same I believe but the front is different. The 05's have a one piece front bumper that has the lower ground effects built into the bumper so it cannot be added on afterwards. If you check out the Toyota.ca website, I believe they show the kit. You can see the difference. I've never seen the added on kit in person, though I'm always on the lookout to see one.

The differences between the body kits for the XR and XRS seem rather subtle to me, and certainly don't seem like they're worth nearly $1k. If you want an XRS body kit, the most practical way to get one is to have them build you an XRS instead of an XR. Myself, I'll just stick with my XR's kit, I just can't justify spending all that money for such a minute cosmetic difference.

Ya i think i agree with you. What about the rear and chin bumper effects? How do they look on the XR? Does anyone have any pics of a Matrix with these bumper effects? Thanks.

You can try comparing models and views at http://toyota.com/vehicles/2005/matrix/exterior.html

The 360 degree exterior rotation takes forever to load right now though.

"coincidentally, i have the exact thing that i've been trying to decide on-although mine's already bought ('05 XR).

basically, the '05 XR bodykit is more agressive-looking compared to the XRS', at least in my opinion. it will all depend on your preference. the '05 XR bodykit comes separate (the one you were referring) while the XRS' comes already with it. check out the matrix brochure in your dealer and compare the two! i'm leaning more towards the separate bodykit. i'll keep you guys updated...", said (c)JANSENdavid

I'm having a bit of dejavu here. Anyway, here's the bodykit (available in the Canadian market) for the 05 base/XR.

Had one fellow owner drop by w/ the kit at a meet 2 yrs ago w/ it but the front lip made for an 03 base/XR.

rear blown up
