Canada Thinkin of buyin a trix

Hey, im thinkin of sellin my celi and buyin an XRS. I need somethin with a lil more room and also with better fuel econo. I gotta drive from almost sauga to Warden and eglington area for school every day. So im thinkin of pickin up an XRS, but i just wanna get some basic info on them. How are they on fuel?(in comparison to a 2.2L celi that runs really rich) I know they are pretty good on space(gf has a XR), how do the 6 speeds drive?, Do you NEED to put premium into it cuz of the lower compression? Hows the ride on the factory 17's? and last but not least What does a good used XRS with less than 100xxxKM go for? Im probably gonnna sell my celi for like $13000 or $14000 and get a loan for the difference between the 2 cars. if you can help me, let me know.

well it's a higher compression vehicle so that's why we gotta use prem.. The only advantage compared to the celi. is the space and versatility of the vehicle. Not to many AWD celi's out there. Xrs comes w/ 6-disc cd changer, has the same engine platform as the gt-s, give or take in some areas, 6-speed man. trans. and the cargo space of a van and and engine of a sportscar. I have a '03 Xrs w/ some upgrades but overall i love my car.

Hey Valo. You just missed our meet last Saturday! http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t94794.html
Any one of us would have been willing to take you out for a spin. We meet up twice a mth. Once in the westend @ Krispy Kreme Mississauga (every second Wed. of the mth) and once in the eastend @ Kennedy Commons (every last Sat. of the mth)

Sounds like you go to Centennial?

In terms of fuel, both the 1ZZ and 2ZZ are 1.8L. The 2ZZ-GE in the XRS sips gas on the hwy. The 1ZZ-FE in the base/XR gets even better gas mileage. I can get about 500km out of a full tank in my 03 XRS 6spd. I've heard some auto XR owners getting 600-700km. Crazy.

As xrs22 mentioned, the XRS requires premium due to higher compression. It's been costing me just under $50 to fill up lately with gas in the high $0.90's/litre. When gas was still in the $0.70's/litre, it was costing about $40 roughly.

The stock tires on the 17" is 215/50 so the ride isn't that hard. I've even gone down to a 225/45 and the ride is about the same.

Just check autotrader.ca for prices. Last time I looked, for used 03 XRS', they were going anywhere from $16000 and up.
