If you could hook up a motor to spin the hydraulic pump on the steering you would have power steering and if you could apply vacuum to the brake booster you would have power brakes. Neither of these components is electronic in any way and neither is connected to the cars electrical system other than acting as a ground perhaps because they are bolted to the frame. Very odd.

I didn't explain that I didn't see it first hand but it happened to my wife and she swears that the car was going! Now it was a very hot day and the car had been sitting for most of day but she started fine first and ran out to store and then it happened when she returned to start the car! When she told me what happened the first thing I asked her if the car had stalled! It certianly would be logical for all those symtoms to happen at once!!! I even plugged the vacuum booster to harden the brakes but no effect to steering, I thought that maybe it may be belt but that would not effect brakes! So I will have to watch and see and I'll post back if it does actually happen to me, but I appreciate all your thoughts and help!
