Just because someone has been #1 does not mean they make the best product or have the best service. Remember in "Men in Black" when K is explaining what and who he is to future J - he says individual persons are intelligent yes, but people in large numbers (like crowds in NYC as an example the NY cop would understand) are not. They can and are easily fooled and manipulated - they do it all through the movie whenever they need to "falshy thing" a group "...all your questions can be answered by looking directly into the red light here...". When something new comes along that is better the crowds may stick with what they know but individuals will often make wiser choices. This is how new "bests" come to be. Was there always a porche 911? a Busa? a DB9? they all had thier first year once upon a time
I drove and compared a gmc 6L sierra, a chevy LTZ equiped silverado and a ford 5.4L lariat and was pretty much ready to buy the ford (based on costs/looks/discounts - up to 8grand at the time), until I drove the 5.7L tundra - there was no contest with the ford. The sierra was a close second - it cost more but had more features - in the end it came down to whatcha get for the money; the tundra performed better, looked better and was more than 4grand less in cost. Plus I got 3500 off back in April on the Tundra - no 0%financing, but got 4.9% , not bad at all comparably.
Price and compare that is how I buy a vehicle, why I have owned 6 toyotas in the past, my kid drives a maxima, my wife drives a volvo and I own a 98 cobra and just sold an 02 Z28 camaro - so no, I'm not a normal consumer - and very proud of it.
