I just drove my 5.7L from Austin, Tx out to San Diego and I averaged right around 20mpg all the way - even west of Yuma, AZ where I climbed like 4500ft in less than 10miles - never been in a climb like that anywhere in a car on any hwy - it was awesome. Myself and a guy in a silverado denali stayed close to each other doing 70+ all the way to the top - no problems pulling to 80 at any time and never got close to hot with the a/c blasting all the way - though it did heat up a little. The needle moved maybe 5% to the red, that was it - hell I was passing all kinds of cars without a pause and felt like I could outpull the denali if it came to that. At one point a vette went by us both doing at least 85 staight up the mnt.......My Tundra was excellent all 1400+miles and I had just retunred two days before I left for San Diego from a trip up to Oklahoma D-Day (up in the far NE corner of the state) about a 450mi each way trip with no hiccups. I am very pleased with performance/mileage/all around handling on this truck no doubt!!
