Mine doesn't seem to burn any more than normal. Remember all engines are going to burn some oil during normal operation by DESIGN. (that's what the PCV valve does). some oil is also left on the cylinders every cycle. It's not much each time, but it adds up.

around a 1/2qt to maybe even a whole quart would be normal oil consumption. That consumption rate would show up more readily on an engine that has less oil to begin with. (.5qt is a larger portion of 3.5qt's than it is of 5qt's)


I also don't think you should use lucas...it's snake oil at best, and can do some serious damage at worst.

I remember Lucas used to have a display with a cake mixer in an oil bath to demonstrate how well it coats the gears...well if you gave that a healthy spin, the lucas oil would foam up while the plain oil wouldn't.

they've since changed their displays, no surprise there. Now you can't spin the gears more than a couple hundred RPM's no matter how hard you try. tell me what in an engine spins no more than 100-200 rpm...
