Gas prices

I read a few articles saying that people are now driving slower because of the high gas prices.

As you know, if you drive slower on the freeway or highway, you will save money on gas.

So I just wondering how many people are actually doing it.

This poll will last 30 days.

Decrease in speed is the best factor to saving gas. It's a fact. The next best things are softer launches and the other sensible stuff.

I have to be honest. Though I had started to "behave" by then, I didn't really start doing the speed limit or below until I got my Yaris. Then after the first fill, I realized I got 45mpgs and I was hooked. Started grazing the net for more ways to get better gas mileage and so I came upon www.gassaver.org and later, www.cleanmpg.com . We're all going to need to slow down as gas prices rise.

It's a personal choice for everyone.

I used to go slow, drive the speed limit, and try to pinch gas.

Then I got a turbocharger.

Unfortunately for me at least even if i'm in the slow lane some ass hat has to tailgate me even though they can clearly go around me like everyone else. They have no reason to tail me. I'm even go the speed limit or a little over. Not all the time but from time to time.

Vent over.

For me from time to time I'm bad and gun it. You have to let loose sometimes. How can I ignore the power and massive amount of torque of my ECHO hey the badges help!

But MAJORITY of the time I drive easy cause I'm concerned about my mpg even if I get decent as it is.

I haven't slowed down my speed, but I do accelerate slower now and have smoother shifts. I'm trying to reprogram the computer to shift at lower rpm now.

yes, but this isn't a reason why following the speed limit should be a problem.

I haven't been driving much, and when I do, it's on my mom's truck, or my friends mini van. I do obey the speed limits in their vehicles although I am not paying for the gas. (When I do drive, it's when they are with me and just don't want to drive)

The price is $8/gal. now in this area (Denmark), and it will only go up.

There is a world of difference between driving 140 and 120 in the little Yaris.

It has an on board computer like a Prius:
90km/l => 54mpg,
120km/l => 45mpg,
140km/h => 35mpg,
180km/h => 25mpg!

I'm one of those who drives slow on the highway unless I'm in the fast lane (it is illegal to inconveniently slow down the traffic).

My commute is 3mi round trip stop and go city traffic and I usually go home for lunch. So 6mi and 4 starts per day, and when you're boosting 10lbs its hard not to punch it on occasion. I get pretty shitty mileage. Premium too. I think I'm avg'ing +/-200mi per tank but I only fill up every few weeks so it evens out. If I hwy road trip with minimal boosting it's closer to 300mi.
I ride my bicycle to work when the weather is nice.
