I think this L is a better way of measuring since the higher the L = power = suck gas.
The Paseo has a 1.5L and the Matrix has a 1.8L. Both of my cars are smaller than yours and weight less (Paseo is 2000lbs, Matrix is around 2800lbs). They are also both stick shift so I pulse and glide them everywhere.

The best way to really rank people is % above the EPA values. The EPA number becomes the baseline. If you drive to get good fuel economy you can exceed that number by quite a bit. If you drive poorly you can get much worse. But, at least this sets a more even playing field.

Agreed on the ratios thing. But that is much more work. I realize it simple math, but multiply that by 1/3 of the members *(those members eventually contributing to this thread) and I'm put those up manually. You did your entry perfectly, but what about everyone else?
I guess this is just until we can find our own mpg tracker.

What if I did the top 20?...I can try that. The hard part is find the gov ratings.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov has EPA ratings for 1985 to 2009 cars.

Yes, thank you. But it's not that simple it's Figuring out how much better they are compared to the epa, expressing it in percentage, use the percentage to rank everyone.x 1/3 of TN or the eventual amount of folks who will respond here. It's a small group here, but I won't be able to continue percentage ranking when there is a lot of people.
....unless it's done automatically.

Canada

My Corolla was bought May 19th and it only has 1150km on it so far. All short drives around town with one 60 mile trip and so far I'm averaging 38MPG on a Canadian gallon. The end of June we'll be taking a trip to Toronto. That's a 5000km return trip so I'll be able to get a fairly good read on long distance averages then and will post them here.

List 25 Post 69 Best TN Mileage!

jwmartell - 45.6 mpg (US gallon) Corolla 1150km on the odom

Fumes: Someone check my math please. I assumed JW converted to miles, but forgot to convert Canadian gallons to US gallons. Canadian gallon being larger, I multiplied 38mpg by 1.20 to get a US mpg. If I'm wrong, correct me.

The ratio is 1 gal(CAN) = 4.535 / 3.786 = 1.198 gal (US). Rounding this off to 3 significant figures, we find 1 gal(CAN) = 1.20 gal(US).

How about Have the Top tanking ALL the cars. And than break all the other into Liter? So the 1.5L, 1.8L, 2.0L, etc, 3.5L. Likely the 3.5L can't likely get better gas mileage than the 1.5L. So this wait it is fair for the 3.5L seperate from the 1.5L. Of cause 3.5L will outrun the 1.5L any day.

Does 3.5L also mean/define that it's an i4 or V6?

3.5 would be a V6

Biggest I4 I have seen is about 2.5

So this Liter is the best best way to rate these cars. Hybrid will of cause have their own class since they have that hybrid motor too.

I think the Camry Hybrid is an I4 + Motor.

And here.. did I average it correctly? If they had percentages, how would I apply that?? Best TN Mileage!

You have a point TM77. What does everyone else think about liters?
