Yeah right. Your truck is listed as getting 20/25mpg, and you are telling us you get 30mpg over 30k miles averaged? You need to check your math. I believe that's what you wish you'd get.
Are you always going downhill?
While it is possible to get slightly better numbers than advertised with really careful driving, I have never heard of somebody beating the highway only advertised mileage by 20% on average over 30K miles. I just don't buy it. Sorry.
Don't buy it, but I have every tank input on a spreadsheet, my math is fine.
974 gallons over 29192.7 miles = 29.972 I rounded to 30.0.
I guess my driving is really really careful.

I'd have to see it to believe it.
But anyway, give us the secrets on how you get there ..... Never any load? Highway only? Going 50 instead of 60?What is it? You do get an ubelievable mileage out of that truck if your claims are true.

First altitude helps, at a mile high the air is thin for less resistance, and the engine makes less power at this altitude which uses less gas, that alone may be good for 2-3 mpg.
Most of my miles are just my daily 10 mile commute, which is all 45 except a mile of 55. I can easily anticipate and avoid stopping at most of the 11 stoplights along the way. Commuting at 6:30 am and 3:00 pm avoids the traffic, if I end up working later the ride home mpg drops.
Coasting in neutral up to lights and down inclines.
Tire pressure 48psi.
Try an advanced search on worthywads and mpg or coast, I'm sure I've gone into more detail quite a few times

I beat my highway epa estimate by 3.3mpg. Could be true
The best mileage I have got with my truck is 10.1L/100k or 23.3US mpg this was accomplished from Saskatoon to Medicine Hat at 108km/hr (67mph) with cruise and a/c on. Slight crosswind that day. I also stopped 3 times in that trip of roughly 500km (315ish miles) The only thing I did out of the ordinary is that i took the cruise off for real steep hills and drove it with my foot. My truck is an 08 trd Double cab 4x4 btw
Should probably mention however when I'm working with the truck (combination highway/stop +go off road) I can still get 12.3 or 12.4 L/100 or (19 US mpg) and typically when I'm working I drive a little faster on the highway somewhere around 115km/hr or (71mph) and I carry 450lb of equipment/tools in the box of my truck.
to answer your question a while back wilks132, the Scangauge II just plugs into your OBD On Board Diagnostic port located under the left side of your steering wheel. It's rectangular and has a black plastic cap.
Do a search and you'll see it come up tons of times. There might even be a group buy on it. I'd say it's the best way to accurately track your mileage.
I get VERY Suspicious when anyone says they get even close to 30 MPG in any truck.....ive owned trucks before and no matter how you drive them, the air drag and large overall shape makes it nearly impossible to get high mileage. Ive had friends that told me they got great mileage in pick ups, but when asked to really prove it, it turned out they WERENT getting what they said they were, but exaggerating a good bit. IM curious how someone can beat physics?? Air drag and frontal area is big on trucks, and you cant somehow change the laws of physics.

They you'll have a real hard time with the 37.3 mpg tank with 724 miles I got out of my truck last summer. My last tank was only 37.2.
The 2wd is 4 inches lower than the others, I'm considering dropping it 2 more.

You don't necessarily need a small car, just drive at a decent speed and large sedans and some SUVs can get great mileage. I have a 2002 Avalon and on cruise control at 65 I average 32 MPG. I've also got a 2008 Highlander that gets an average of 29 MPG highway at 65. And, no, it's not a hybrid version. Wow!
