A monte carlo is a TRUCK?? Why is that so?
a VW rabbit is a rabbit whether it has 2 doors, 4 doors or a miniature pick up style bed, its still a 2000 lb vehicle that is a rabbit. I dont think its so much MY definition of a truck, but its simply a car with a tiny "bed" in the back instead of the back seat and trunk area. I would call a true truck a vehicle that is actually able to carry SERIOUS weight in a separated bed from the passenger compartment, on either a separate frame or rarely a Uni-frame ( jeep comanche, honda ridgeline) a rabbit "pickup" is no matter what just a car without serious hauling ablility or size. Would you consider a jeep wrangler a truck if it had a half cab?.....Noone would its just a small jeep with an OPEN cargo area, same as a subaru Baja, VW rabbit and a few other gimmicky "trucks"
I read somewhere a TRUE pick up truck has a bed that is REMOVABLE to accomodate OTHER style of cargo areas or accessories, such as a dump bed, wrecker, cargo boxes on sides, flat bed etc etc...thats why a Jeep, VW rabbit or many of those other pseudo pick ups are really not a PICK UP TRUCK. They are just open bed cargo areas. Same as taking my trunk lid off my camry.....I could haul a wheel barrow like that and according to your definition im driving a truck now?? Nope....its a car with an open cargo area. If the bed is not removable and is ATTATCHED to the passenger area permanently its just a car that the automaker is CALLING a truck for reasons that benefit them....( mileage standards mainly )
