^depends on your definition of a truck.... IMO, a truck is a vehicle with an open-air bed to carry rocks/dirt/etc that doesn't infringe on passengers cleanliness or safety and must be able to carry at least 2 people in addition to said load for distances greater than 200 miles regardless of speed travelled.

Is an SUV a truck... nope.
was a monte carlo a truck..... yep.
is a camry a truck.....nope.

A monte carlo is a TRUCK?? Why is that so?

a VW rabbit is a rabbit whether it has 2 doors, 4 doors or a miniature pick up style bed, its still a 2000 lb vehicle that is a rabbit. I dont think its so much MY definition of a truck, but its simply a car with a tiny "bed" in the back instead of the back seat and trunk area. I would call a true truck a vehicle that is actually able to carry SERIOUS weight in a separated bed from the passenger compartment, on either a separate frame or rarely a Uni-frame ( jeep comanche, honda ridgeline) a rabbit "pickup" is no matter what just a car without serious hauling ablility or size. Would you consider a jeep wrangler a truck if it had a half cab?.....Noone would its just a small jeep with an OPEN cargo area, same as a subaru Baja, VW rabbit and a few other gimmicky "trucks"

I read somewhere a TRUE pick up truck has a bed that is REMOVABLE to accomodate OTHER style of cargo areas or accessories, such as a dump bed, wrecker, cargo boxes on sides, flat bed etc etc...thats why a Jeep, VW rabbit or many of those other pseudo pick ups are really not a PICK UP TRUCK. They are just open bed cargo areas. Same as taking my trunk lid off my camry.....I could haul a wheel barrow like that and according to your definition im driving a truck now?? Nope....its a car with an open cargo area. If the bed is not removable and is ATTATCHED to the passenger area permanently its just a car that the automaker is CALLING a truck for reasons that benefit them....( mileage standards mainly )

I think there may be some El Camino vs Monte Carlo confusion.

Coincidently I saw 2 El Caminos today, both early 80s models. The first with a dirt bike in the back and the other lifted with practically tractor tires. Probably some sort of chassis swap, thing didn't even have doors. There's at least one redneck gittin' 'er dun in Boulder.

Do you think the TRD catback helps or hinders your mpg? I have an 08 doublecab with the TRD catback installed when I purchased the truck, not sure if it helps mpg (more performance more fuel)? The best I have seen is 18.5 mpg in mixed driving. My last fill was 12.9 mpg, colder weather, winter blend fuel, and driving habit could be contributing factors.
